The Illuminated Mind

The Illuminated Mind is one of the intermediary levels of consciousness in Sri Aurobindo’s vision of spiritual evolution. It lies above the rational mind and below the Intuitive and Overmind levels. It is marked by a bright, clear, and luminous thought-force that brings clarity, harmony, and a sense of divine inspiration.

Unlike the ordinary mind that struggles with doubt and dualities, the Illuminated Mind shines with spiritual light. It has an intuitive clarity and is capable of perceiving truths without logical reasoning. A person functioning from this level experiences a deep sense of joy and certainty in their insights.

In the process of Integral Yoga, the ascent to the Illuminated Mind is a significant step. It prepares the being for higher levels of consciousness, ultimately leading to transformation by the Supermind. Thus, it plays a vital role in the spiritual evolution of human consciousness.
