Antisocial Personality Disorder
Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD) is a mental health condition characterized by a persistent disregard for the rights of others, violation of social norms, and lack of empathy or remorse. It typically begins in childhood or adolescence and continues into adulthood.
Common features include repeated lying, impulsivity, irritability, aggression, criminal behavior, and failure to conform to laws or maintain employment. Individuals often manipulate others for personal gain and show little concern for consequences.
ASPD is more common in males and is often linked to childhood conduct disorder, genetic predispositions, and adverse environmental conditions. Treatment is challenging but may involve cognitive-behavioral therapy and, in some cases, medications for aggression or co-occurring conditions.
