Population aging refers to the increasing number and proportion of elderly people in a population. In India, this trend is becoming more prominent due to better healthcare and declining birth rates. While it reflects social progress, it also brings several challenges.
One major implication is increased demand for healthcare services, as older adults are more prone to chronic illnesses. This puts pressure on hospitals, caregivers, and the public health system. Additionally, pension and social security systems need to expand to support non-working elderly people.
