Cultural Dualism is a philosophical and sociological concept that describes the coexistence of two distinct and often conflicting cultural perspectives within a society. It frequently arises in contexts such as colonization, globalization, and multiculturalism.

One common form of cultural dualism is the division between modernity and tradition. In many postcolonial societies, indigenous cultural values and Western influences coexist uneasily, sometimes leading to identity crises, cultural alienation, or resistance movements.

Another aspect is the duality between science and religion or between secular and spiritual worldviews. These oppositions can shape public policy, education, and social norms, influencing how people interpret knowledge, ethics, and community values.

While cultural dualism may result in tension, it can also encourage pluralism and dialogue if managed respectfully. Embracing dual identities can lead to richer, more inclusive societies that draw from multiple cultural sources.
