Concept of Zakat

Zakat is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. It refers to the obligatory almsgiving or charity that Muslims must offer from their wealth to help the poor and needy. It is usually calculated as 2.5% of a Muslim’s annual savings.

Zakat purifies wealth, promotes social justice, and reduces inequality. It reflects the Islamic values of compassion, accountability, and community welfare. It is both a spiritual duty and a social responsibility.
